What Is Music Therapy?

Music therapy uses music to enhance non-musical goal; emotional support, physical support, social support and cognitive support.

“Music therapy is the skillful use of music and musical elements by an accredited music therapist (MTA) to promote positive change.  Music has nonverbal, creative, structural, and emotional qualities which will be used to build a therapeutic relationship, to facilitate interaction, self-awareness, learning, self-expression, communication and personal development.” –Canadian Association of Music Therapy
